Asst. Dir. Of Member Engagement- Job Description

Founded in 1999, The US India Chamber of Commerce is a local 501(c)(6) organization that supports professional, business and economic development in North Texas and helps to facilitate trade with India. The Chamber is a premier organization representing
the growing Indian American business community. The Chamber serves as a platform for member companies in the DFW area to connect while bringing in speakers like local, state and federal elected representatives, CEOs of major corporations and others.

Job Description: The Chamber has begun accepting applications for the Assistant Director of Member Engagement position. Key requirements for an Assistant Director of Member Engagement candidate are general business management and marketing knowledge, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, writing and computer skills. The position may be a part-time or a full- time paid position of 40 hours per week. Resumes will be reviewed as they are received, and the position will be open until filled.

Primary Objectives:
The Assistant Director of Member Engagement will facilitate activities related to member development and member engagement of the US India Chamber of Commerce that are aligned with the Chamber’s mission as well as the goals and objectives set forth by the USICOC Board of Directors. The Assistant Director of Member Engagement represents the Chamber in this role, and accordingly, will adhere to all guidelines relating to employee conduct and Chamber policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Member Engagement & Member Management

– Respond to membership or sponsorship inquiries made in-person or via telephone, mail, fax or e-mail in a friendly, informative manner;
– Develop and maintain relationships with designated set of Chamber members including:
– facilitate the member onboarding process
– touching base with members on a regular basis
– supporting Chamber members according to established member engagement procedures
– inviting Chamber members to participate in Chamber events
– following up with members prior to renewal
– providing members with any reports or documents needed to maintain membership or sponsorship
– identify potential speakers from member company to participate in Chamber activities and events
– identify members or individuals within member companies who are advocates for the Indian-American business community
– facilitate possible internships or career services opportunities for member companies
– Communicate with members and sponsors about membership and sponsorship benefits; work with office manager to maintain membership and sponsorships records and related documents;
– Oversee and provide scheduled and special reports, correspondence and related member management information;
– Prepare and facilitate the distribution of newsletters, membership forms and other promotional materials, as well as other member communications;
– Work with members to develop marketing content to be distributed through the Chamber’s communications platforms
– Provide support in other capacities as needed

Event Management
– Develop marketing content related to Chamber Events that are relevant to Chamber Members
– Develop, update and monitor Chamber Event Registration Pages, website, and social media platforms related to Chamber hosted Events in conjunction with the Chamber Team
– Prepare newsletter content for Chamber Events and activities
– Assist with Event Management and Logistics (venue identification, catering, etc.) as needed
– Provide support for members and sponsors before, during and after the event
– Engage with Chamber Members before an event where there may be synergistic opportunities for sponsorship or engagement
– Facilitate member and sponsor interactions at events to enrich member experience

Typical Working Environment:
Work is typically performed in the Chamber’s office located at 5930 LBJ Freeway, Suite 310, Dallas, TX 75240 and also includes travel throughout the community to business and community events.
Limited weekend and evening hours may be required.

Typical Physical Requirements for This Position:
There may be some lifting of materials and/or equipment, typically <50 lbs.

Job Requirements:
The Assistant Director of Member Engagement must have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sales, and/or, Communications, or another relevant field.
• Master’s Degree is required
• Project Management Certification and/or Experience is preferable
• Fluency in at least 2 Indian languages (other than English) is preferable
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a busy office environment.
• Demonstrated experience in the following:

o Ability to prepare proposals, grants or other written business development literature;
o Ability to analyze market data and identify potential member opportunities
o Ability to organize and coordinate; foster a cooperative work environment; and maintain efficient office work flow
o Ability to develop and sustain strong relationships and partnerships with organizations and individuals

• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, sales and communications skills are required, including creative problem-solving abilities when called for
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, QuickBooks, Customer Relationship Management Software (Sales Force) or Event Management, and Social Media
• Initiative to learn about local and international businesses, economic development and advocacy
• Flexibility in responding to a busy work environment and an organization that serves as the concierge for the communities it serves
• Fund raising, economic and community development experience is preferable
